|
Katharina
(Gartner)
Rill was
born on
April 5,
1925 in the
small,
ethnically
German town
of Kernei,
Yugoslavia.
After being
forced into,
and
eventually
Released
from, a
Russian work
camp
following
World War
II, she
married her
sweetheart,
Peter Rill.
The two set
out to start
a family,
and after
losing their
first child,
Helga, a few
days after
she was
born, were
blessed with
The arrival
of Peter
Jr., in
1954. The
following
year, the
young family
immigrated
to the
United
States,
settling in
Chicago with
several of
their
Landsleit. A
few years
later their
second son,
Joseph, Was
born,
completing
the family.
During her
lifetime
Katharina
did her best
to instill a
strong sense
of faith in
her family.
As
grandchildren
who
frequently
went to the
summerhouse
for
week-long
visits, we
always went
to church on
Sunday with
Oma.
Oma
and Opa took
immense
pride in
their
garden,
Starting
seedlings in
the kitchen
long before
it was warm
enough to
plant them
outside. I
remember
card tables
full of
butter
containers
being reused
as temporary
planters.
Greater than
her love for
the garden,
however, was
Oma's love
for her
family. She
wanted
nothing more
than to see
her children
and
grandchildren
happy, well
fed and
otherwise
taken care
of. She
prayed hard
for all of
us, loved us
through the
easy going
and the
harder times
and always
let us know
she loved
us.
Following
a long
battle with
dementia,
Katharina
passed away
quietly at
home on
Saturday
evening,
July 23,
2011. She
joins Peter,
Helga, and
Peter Jr.,
and leaves
behind son
Joe and his
wife Pam;
wife of the
late Peter,
Jr.,
daughter-in-law
Eva;
grandchildren
Viki (and
Husband
Trey), Tony
(and fiance’
Melissa),
Mark (and
wife Karen),
Kristin (and
husband
Jonathan),
Alicia, and
Nicole; and
great-grandchildren
Logan and
Natalie. |

Die
Clevelander Donauschwaben nahmen Abschied von Frau
Franziska Holzer.
Ein
Mutterherz hat aufgehört zu schlagen
Das
so viel Liebe ständig in sich trug.
Es
hat auch unsre Sorgen mitgetragen.
Trug
Man
könnte sich in tiefem Schmerz verzehren
Der
sich aus diesem Wandel gross erhebt.
Man
fühlte täglich den Verlust sich mehren,
Würd’
eine innre Stimme uns nicht lehren;
Dass
einer Mutter Herz still in uns weiterlebt.
Am Montag, den 7. November 2011 verstarb ganz
plötzlich und unerwartet Frau Frannerl Holzer im
84. Lebensjahr.
ehemaligen Jugoslawien stammenden Josef Holzer
katholischen St. Albert the Great Kirche (die
Beschreibung beenden. "Eine dankbare
donauschwäbische Gemeinde nahm Abschied und sagt
Ade, liebe Fannerl, Ade und ruhe in Frieden!"

Frau Doris Seuffert geborene Haller wurde am 1. April 1929 in Altker,
Batschka, dem ehemaligen Jugoslawien geboren.
Sie starb am 13. August 2011 nach einer langwierigen Krankheit
im 82. Lebensjahr in Cleveland, Ohio.

It is with sadness that we note the
passing of John "Hans" Klauser.
Hans was a very active member for many
years, participating in everything from

counted him among its members.
To his wife of many decades, Mae, and to
all of his family and friends the
Donauschwaben extends its sincerest
condolences.
May he rest in Peace, Amen.
Herr Klauser's Mass of the Christian
Burial will be held at 11 am, Saturday,
